2020 Annual Meeting – Southeastern Colorectal Cancer Consortium

The Consortium

The Consortium, formed in 2015, has brought together an energetic group of advocates from both the public and private sectors to exchange and compare ideas and experiences related to colorectal cancer and its prevention in the Southeast region of the nation.  The delegates, representing 13 Southeastern states, have included advocates, health center and hospital workers, researchers, academics, physicians, nurses, corporate managers, survivors, and government leaders, among others.  The Consortium has met four times (Atlanta in 2016, San Juan in 2017, New Orleans in 2018, and Arkansas in 2019) has attracted 120-140 attendees at each meeting, and has vigorously addressed creative ways to increase colorectal cancer screening.

The Conference

We discuss challenges that continue to confound colorectal cancer screening rates in the Southeast United States and Puerto Rico, with Consortium members sharing knowledge, tools, resources and strategic approaches that can significantly impact colorectal cancer screening in our unique area. In addition to panel discussions, conference organizers ensure that organized, focused interactions among attendees and exhibitors take place, which has contributed to information sharing, as well as additional implementation of interventions within states and across the region.

This years’ conference will be held at the historic Galt House in Louisville Kentucky and will address 4 main topics; health equity, early age onset colon cancer, new technology, and policy surrounding colon cancer prevention.

Early Bird Registration is open now and all health care workers and providers are encouraged to attend. (To pay via check, please contact Amanda Smart at asmart@KickingButt.org)
