Working to expand free screenings in Ky.

Advocacy Team

Our advocacy team: Jack Hillard, Whitney Jones, Andrea Shepherd and Jason Baird

Since the Project began, we have made it our mission to be your main colon cancer advocate in Kentucky.

That work has resulted in a funded colon cancer screening program for uninsured Kentuckians. And in 2016, as state legislators debate the next state budget, we are working hard to make sure that program remains funded.

In fact, we are also working with legislators to expand the program to under-insured Kentuckians, allowing even more people to qualify for life-saving screenings that they can’t otherwise afford.

On Jan. 14, the House Health & Welfare Committee unanimously voted to support the proposal; in the coming weeks, the Senate Health & Welfare committee will be considering it. If you are in the Frankfort area, please join us! Follow us on Facebook for updates (many times we don’t know until 24 hours before the meeting if we are on the agenda).

If you can’t make it, you can still play a key role. Reach out to your legislators (find a list here) and tell them to support legislation to expand the Kentucky Colon Cancer Screening Program, as well as funds to continue it.

Your help can impact many people in our state!
