Meet Whitney Perry, our 2015 Bottoms Up Bash Committee Chair!
Here’s a little bit about her:
*How did you get involved with The Colon Cancer Prevention Project?
My grandmother was diagnosed with colon cancer when in was in grade school, this is what first sparked my in interest in medicine. I have the privilege to go to church with Andrea Shepherd, and first attended the Bottoms Up Bash two years ago and then last year volunteered on the planning committee. I now work in oncology as a nurse practitioner and think the work the Colon Cancer Prevention Project does in invaluable to our community and state.
*Why Louisville?
I was born and raised in the area. I grew up in Oldham and Henry counties, then moved to Lexington for my first degree. I toyed with the idea of moving, but what more can you ask for in a city, other than the ocean!
*Favorite restaurant in Louisville?
This is a hard one…I like to try anything local, I am always up for Irish Rover, no matter my mood!
*What is one interesting fact about you that most people don’t know?
I grew up on a farm and showed Tennessee Walking Horses.
*What is your motto you live by?
Never, never quit!
*What is some advice you were given long ago and still live by?
Always look for ways to improve, whether this be in your job, relationship, or in the way you have fun!
*What is your guilty pleasure? (Yes, we mean the one you are slightly embarrassed to admit.)
Cake icing. When I was little my grandmother, Mimi, made a cake, she wasn’t home when I got there from school and I ate all of the icing off of the cake…and then denied it! Of course she played along, she was my Mimi of course!
*If you could go anywhere in the world right now, where would you go and why?
I would love to say somewhere I have never been, but honestly it would be the beach in Key West, that is my favorite place to be.
*If you could trade places with anyone in the world (dead or alive) for a month, who would choose and why?
There are many options on this one that come to mind, but I am going with Oprah. She is a strong woman, who meets all kinds of people, runs multimillion dollar businesses and does philanthropy work. I think that would be a great education in a month!
