Meet Shaunda, our Outreach Intern! She kicks butt by helping us track and coordinate many of our outreach efforts and so much more! Learn more about Shaunda below:

*How did you get involved with The Project?

I have been involved with the Colon Cancer Prevention Project for a couple years now. My family and I run in the annual 5K on behalf of my uncle who died a few years ago. Fast forward to present time, I am now a second year MPH student at UofL and this was my first choice for my practicum site.

*What is most meaningful to you as a volunteer for the Project?

Most meaningful to me is connecting individuals to free resources to reduce the number of people becoming a victim to colon cancer.

*What is your motto you live by?

My motto is: “If it is meant to be, it will be”.

*If you could back and meet a younger version of yourself, what advice would you give?

The advice I would give my younger self will be: Don’t worry! You will accomplish everything you set your mind to.

*What is your favorite food?

My favorite food is Mac and Cheese.

*What is one interesting fact about you that most people don’t know?

One interesting fact is that I used to suck my thumb for years as a child and miraculously I have straight teeth.

*If could have any type of wild animal as a pet, what animal would pick and what would name it?

If I could have any animal in the world, it would be a baby elephant. I would name him Elroy.

*If you could go anywhere in the world right now, where would you go and why?

If I could go anywhere in the world, I would go explore Europe. I love the museums, art, good food, architecture, the fashion, and rich history. Europe symbolizes that for me. It’s next on my vacation list.

*If you could meet anyone in the world (dead or alive), who would choose and why?

I would most definitely meet my deceased uncle in Las Vegas. He was most the life of any party and we never got a chance to explore the world together before he died.
