On June 11th, Eric Gilliland and his associates will play 100 holes of golf to benefit the Colon Cancer Prevention Project. Eric, the Director of Golf for the Audubon Country Club, annually leverages his talent and resources to raise awareness and funds to prevent colon cancer.
At age 35, Eric experienced trace amounts of rectal bleeding. His wife, Susan, thankfully, had just read something in passing about “health symptoms not to ignore” and encouraged him to report to his physician. That physician ordered a colonoscopy that lead to the discovery of cancerous polyps and then an emergency resection the very next day. Eric’s GI happened to be an avid golfer and an incredible relationship was born. Now, Eric and his family, are a beloved and integral part of the Colon Cancer Prevention Project family.
In addition to serving in his role on the Project’s Board of Directors, Eric annually hosts our 100 Holes event to raise funds and celebrate his full recovery from colon cancer and to highlight what is possible through symptom recognition and timely screening. Eric takes pride in his work and his advocacy to stop colon cancer proactively.
