This month, we would like to recognize Stefanie Sydnor as our Volunteer of the Month!  Stefanie has helped in many ways since she got involved with the Project earlier this year.  Learn more about her below!

*How did you get involved with The Project?

When I was first diagnosed in January 2015 with rectal cancer, I knew I needed something to feel connected to others with colorectal cancer.  While searching the internet I found out about the 5K.  Once my treatment was underway, I contacted Patty and we met on March 17 and I attended my first volunteer meeting on April 9, which coincidentally was my last day of radiation and chemotherapy!

*Why Louisville?

Born and raised in Louisville and have never left…except to visit family but now they are all back here as well.

*What is your favorite restaurant in Louisville?

Claudia Sanders in Simpsonville…love the Sunday buffet!!

*What is one interesting fact about you that most people don’t know?

I am a “car gal”…love NASCAR and old cars.  I finally got my dream car 2 years ago – a 1960 Metropolitan convertible that I named Mirabelle.

*What is your motto you live by?

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven…Ecclesiastes 3:1

*What is some advice you were given long ago and still live by?

Don’t underestimate the power of prayer and a positive attitude.

*What is your guilty pleasure? (Yes, we mean the one you are slightly embarrassed to admit.)

Eating ice cream out of the carton while watching TV.

*If you could go anywhere in the world right now, where would you go and why?

I have always been fascinated with Egypt and The Holy Land.

*If you could trade places with anyone in the world (dead or alive) for a month, who would choose and why?

Trisha Yearwood…everyone says I look like her and I wouldn’t mind being married to Garth Brooks for a month!
